Personal Care Homes, Residential Care Homes, Adult Foster Care Homes, Group Homes, & Licensed Homes for the Aging
Personal Care Homes are residential homes that provide Assisted Living care and some skill care to their residents. Some also specialize in Memory Care for people with declining cognitive abilities such as Dementia, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's diseases. They are usually 20 beds and smaller. The average home has 4-6 residents. They offer semi private (shared) or private rooms. They are usually furnished with a bed, dresser and night stand. The residents would share the common areas of the home. They have their meals three times a day and snacks. They provide specialized meals and diets if needed. They treat their residents as if they were family and provide activities and outings to their residents if they are more higher functioning.
Most of the residents are lower functioning with higher care needs. These homes are a great alternative to a Nursing home because of the higher levels of care they can provide. They have one to two caregivers at all times caring for their residents including overnight awake staff. These caregivers are screened and background checked by the owners to make sure they are qualified to provide care for their residents. Most of the Personal Care Home owners have backgrounds in the senior health care industry.
Personal Care Homes provide high levels of care for residents such as:
- 2 person transfers
- Bedridden/Hoyer Care
- Feeding tube care
- Incontinence Care-Bowel/Bladder
- Colostomy Care
- Diabetic Sliding Scale
- Wound Care
